Pro Hollywood Restoration
Our Pro Hollywood Restoration is divided into 2 types of enhancements:
1) Color/Exposure Correction (included in Pro HD, Pro 2K, Pro 4K processes)
2) Clean Film Technology (optional on Pro HD, Pro 2K, Pro 4K processes)
Old movie file degrades over time. The colors will shift toward blue or red in most cases and the film will also get darker in most cases. We use a hybrid color/exposure correction system we have tuned over the decades. The scanner is detecting the color and light balance as it scans. We setup the scanner to correct some common issues like color shifting, or to pump a little more light into film that is underexposed or to reduce the light if the film was over exposed. Then, an editor will look at the scanned images and make further adjustments to the color and exposure. In most cases we can get the color and exposure as good as it was originally when it was first taken. Some scenes may actually look better then they did originally. Color and exposure enhancement from both the scanner and editor are included with the Pro HD, Pro 2K and Pro 4K process cost.
Clean Film Technology
All Film has visible film grain that looks like tiny dots all over the film. These dots makes the video less clear and sharp and can be distracting to watch on today's big screen TVs. This patented clean film technology removes about 90% of the grain/dots in the video while keeping the picture nice and sharp. What you will be left with is a nice clean and sharp video from your film. The clean film technology is very compute intensive and it increases our processing time by 7 times. So, as an example, if it took 4 hours to create a DVD from your film it will take 28 hours with the clean film technology. Because of the compute intensive nature of this technology we have to charge extra for it and have decided to make this technology optional on the order form.
