Hollywood Restoration II
Hollywood Restoration II is the next generation restoration technology
we've developed specifically for our high definition film transfer process.
Version II adds additional graininess removal and secondary color
correction.
This page explains the differences between
Hollywood Restoration I
and Hollywood Restoration II.
Example
Before/After Pictures
Below, we are showing the before/after pictures to illustrate our Hollywood
Restoration I & II technology*.
What we are using below is amateur film in average condition so you
can get an honest idea of the improvement we can achieve. Film that is overly dark,
light or grainy will not turn out as well. We cannot improve film that is
blurry, flickering (strobing on original film), shot out of frame, damaged due
to humidity and mildew or double exposed.

Over 90% of the film we see has
noticeable color shifting, scratches and graininess. This film has a mild
color shift toward blue, has moderate grain and some scratches. The colors
can shift toward blue, red or yellow. Most film shifts toward blue. In
this example case, it shifted to blue and looks like someone put a blue tint on
the film.
This film represents
the average condition of the film we get in.
In this case, the Hollywood Restoration was able to remove
about 70% of the scratches and grain*.

Hollywood Restoration I (Gold)
Our Gold process includes a frame by frame color correction, exposure
enhancement and removal of the majority of grain and scratches.
Currently, no one offers anything like our Gold process. You can see that
the majority of the grain and scratches are no longer there and the colors have been
corrected which results in better quality than the original film in this
case*. |

High Definition
Frame By Frame with Restoration (Platinum HD)
The Platinum HD process was the first
High Definition film transfer service of it's kind in the United
States.
You can see the imagine
looks more 3-D, is sharper and had less grain over the Gold process
(look at the detail in the face, hair line and hands).
Also, if you look at the facial tones, you can see that the color
correction is slightly better than the Gold. |
*Quality of restoration is dependent upon condition of existing film stock; severely deteriorated original materials may be beyond the reach of even the most sophisticated restoration methods.
