16mm & 35mm Film to DVD and Digital
Convert 16mm Film to DVD, BluRay or Digital Files
If you are looking for the highest quality 35mm or 16mm film transfer, you’ve found it! We specialize in professional film scanning of 16mm and 35mm film at SD, HD and 2K (1556) and 4K (3112) resolution. Most of our 35mm customers do the 4K scan and most of our 16mm customers do the 2K scan. Over sampling your film is always a good idea in order to get the best quality. So, to get the best looking SD video you want to scan at HD. To get the best HD video you want to scan a 2K. Our new film restoration technology can not only reverse the aging effects (color and exposure degradation) but can also make your film look better than it ever was (grain removal and stabilization). There is only a few professional film scanning labs left in the entire USA so I would get your film scanned sooner rather than later.
Film shrinks over the decades. So running your film today through a projector or film transfer machine that uses the sprocket holes will damage the film. We get several calls a day about people damaging their film by trying to run it through a projector. Same goes for these low-end film transfer machines used by local camera and video conversion shops end even the big box stores like Walmart, Costco and Walgreens. Make sure your film is scanned on a professional sprocket-less roller based film scanner. Luckily Video Conversion Experts can help. Damaged sprocket holes? Shrunk film? No problem and we won’t damage your film! Our Pro HD and above are roller based sprocket-less scanners.
Does your 16mm or 35mm film have 2K resolution? Absolutely! Even old 16mm film can have up to 2K lines of resolution. Newer or negative 16mm film has more than 2K resolution. Older 35mm film can have up to 4K lines of resolution. Newer or negative 35mm has more than 4K resolution.

16mm film has 2K horizontal lines of resolution. In order to archive the film a 2K (2048 vertical x 1556 horizontal) scan is required. Our Pro 2K service scans the film at 2K and down converts it to give you the best looking HD video or SD DVD possible. This is a trick Hollywood has played for years. They start with a high resolution scan of 35mm film at either 2K or 4K. They then down convert and compress it to DVD or BluRay. Only a small fraction of the visual quality is lost during a down conversion because there is so much more data when the video is down converted and compressed they can make a much better looking DVD or BluRay. A DVD from a 2K scan will look 2-3 times better then a DVD from a 480 line film scanner (DVD has 480 horizontal lines of resolution). So, we can play the same trick to give you a great looking DVD or BluRay from your 16mm film.
The same can be said of 35mm film to DVD or BluRay. By scanning the film at 4K we can make a DVD or BluRay look much better than if we scanned the 35mm film at SD resolution.
We can professional scan 16mm film, Super 16mm film, 35mm film and Super 35mm film to DVD, AVI files, BluRay, HD-AVI, HD ProRes HQ. 16mm film to DVD and 35mm film to DVD are the most common film transfer service we perform.
Our film to DVD, film to BluRay and film to HD editing files services are available throughout the United States and around the world. We are not only known for our professional film transfer services but also for our Pro Hollywood restoration technology we use to make our film conversion services the best in the business.
