Film Questions

Of course! Not only are your original containers mailed back to you but all of your film is returned in better condition then when we received it due to our expert cleaning, repair and use of archival reels and cases.

Most orders are shipped out in 9 to 11 days after being received. If you need it back sooner we have a 2-3 business day RUSH service.

Nope! We always bill our customers based on actual content. This is why you’ll be billed after your transfer is complete and we have an accurate footage count.

Yes! Most film scanning machines around 10+ years ago used a modified projector and camcorder to transfer your precious memories to a low quality VHS tape. In doing so you only got about 40% of the details from your film. By transferring your film at our Pro HD or higher level professional services you will get 2-3 times better quality then your previous transfer.

It’s not a good idea to play them in your old projector anymore. Over the years your film has become fragile, has more then likely shrunk and will get damaged by the claw in your projector that moves the film. We suggest either using a magnifying glass with some sort of light source to get a decent idea of the films content or transfer your film and order editing files so you can edit it on your computer once they are returned to you.

We convert all the major film types including 8mm, Super 8, 9.5mm, 16mm and 35mm film.

We actually scan both! We’ve scanned millions of feet for everyone from your amateur consumer shooting home movies to professional films for companies, governments, non-profit organizations and independent movie producers. Some of our most notable and recent professional film transfers include films for NASA, US Air Force, SpaceX, NFL and the JFK assassination!

Because we do not charge for blank footage, you wont be charged until your film has been scanned and edited. That way we have an accurate footage count and you are not overcharged!

Retail DVDs regardless of the brand will have a lifetime of about 10 years and may fail as early as 2-5 according to the US National Archives. We offer both professional 25-year disks and archival 100-year disks for your film conversions.

We keep a digital backup of your transfer for 30 days to ensure you get your film back safe and sound. This also gives you the opportunity to order additional copies or formats once you and your family review your transfer.

Tape Questions

Of course! All video tapes and their associated boxes are returned after they have been scanned.

Most orders are shipped out in 8 to 10 days after being received. If you need it back sooner we have a 1-2 business day RUSH service.

Nope! We bill based on actual content. Which is why you wont be charged until your transfer is complete and we’ve had a chance to calculate how many hours of actual content were on your tapes. We do have a 30 minute minimum per tape. So, if a tape has 15 minutes of content we would bill it as 30 minutes.

Absolutely! Through our Pro SD and higher processes we transfer your tapes with our high-end professional equipment resulting in the best available quality your tapes have to offer. We can also correct color issues, reduce video noise and remove minor tracking problems ensuring that your video is the best it can be!

Unfortunately if you no longer have a camcorder or deck to play them in, there isn’t really a way convenient way to preview or watch them before sending them to us. If this is the case we suggest either finding/searching for a compatible deck to buy (which can be upwards of $300+) or send them to us and order editing files so you can edit it on your computer once they are scanned and returned to you.

We can convert all sorts of tapes! From some of the most common like VHS, 8mm, Hi8, MiniDV and Digital8 to some of the less common like Betacam and Betamax. In addition, we can convert PAL tapes in most of those formats as well.

We actually scan both! We’ve transferred thousands of hours for everyone from your amateur consumer shooting home movies to professional videos for companies, universities, non-profit organizations and federal institutions. Some of our most notable and recent professional video transfers include films for the University of Austin, the USGS, and NASA.

Slide & Photo Questions

Of course! All slides and photos are returned after they have been scanned.

Most orders are shipped out in 21 to 28 days after being received.

Nope! We would discard any blank slides.

It depends. If you originally had the slides scanned at 3000 DPI or higher with ICE then you probably don’t need to. Otherwise if you had a lower DPI scan done then yes, it would be worth it.

If you no longer have a projector you can use/buy a light box from a local camera shop to view the slides.

We convert standard 35mm, 110, 126, 127, Pocket 110, 3D Slides, Medium/Large Format, 35mm Negative Strips, ASP film and Photographs.

We actually scan both! We’ve converted slides for professional photographers, web sites, businesses and many, many amateur film customers.

You don’t pay until we’ve completed the work and we know exactly how many slides or photos you had.
