Transferring Your VHS Tapes
Remember when you’d pile the kids into your minivan, head down to Blockbuster, and rent that week’s newest movies on VHS tapes? We sure do, and to be honest, we kinda miss it! The day of the VHS tape is gone, but that doesn’t mean your memories caught on videotape have to be as well. That’s why we got into the business of digitizing and restoring VHS tapes, We wanted to make sure that the memories you experienced in the 1970s and 1980s were preserved for generations to come.
A Brief History.... And Even Briefer Future of VHS Tapes
The VHS videocassette was first introduced in the United States on June 4th, 1977 at a press conference before the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Chicago. VHS stands for “Video Home System” and was developed by JVC in 1976. When VHS hit the American market it faced some harsh competition from Sony’s Betamax, Which had already been in the US since 1975. Then followed the video war between VHS and Betamax in the late 70s and early 80s. In the end, VHS won the war due to its ability to record for two hours instead of Betamax’s one-hour recording ability. It’s also said that the real reason VHS won the battle over Betamax was due to the porn industry. Sony reportedly would not let pornographic content be put on Betamax tapes, while JVC and other VHS manufacturers had no such issues. The reign of the VHS tape was short-lived however and by mid-1997 it had been completely replaced by the DVD.
Transferring Your Tapes Before It's Too Late
Odds are your VHS videocassette tapes are over 30 years old, some may even be pushing 40… UGH, just saying that makes us feel old! Over the years father time has not been good to your VHS tapes. They’ve probably started to degrade, shift in color to blue or red, and might even be damaged beyond repair. Meaning your precious memories caught on VHS are at risk of being lost forever. Now is the best time to get them transferred onto a medium like DVD or into digital files like MP4 or AVI. With a VHS to DVD or digital service like the ones provided by us at Video Conversion Experts, you can enhance your memories with advanced color correction and broadcast-quality equipment. Giving you the opportunity to relive your memories with your family and friends at a quality level that our competitors don’t even bother offering. At the end of the day, your VHS tapes won’t be around forever and if you want to relive your past with generations to come, Video Conversion Experts offers the highest quality VHS digitizing services the industry has to offer.
